And your stunning photographs.
Thank you for both. The beauty of your photographs and the warm and appreciative words about the book have lifted my spirits.
I have also read some of your reviews and will be following your posts.
Gabrielle Gouch

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1092941621582901334.post-12618627037028324182014-05-10T09:27:08.200-06:002014-05-10T09:27:08.200-06:00Lee-Anne, I was really looking forward to the book...Lee-Anne, I was really looking forward to the book too, when I borrowed it from the library. The back cover (it wasn't Virago) made it sound just like the kind of book that I really enjoy. I was so disappointed. You might get on with it better, and if you get further than I did then you'll have to let me know what happened, as I was quite intrigued by the storyline. I'm looking forward to seeing Elizabeth's novel in print! I had to laugh at your comment about Tom or Elizabeth writing better... She just started writing a novel last month actually. Sshe's still hashing out the outline and she's using a system of her own devising involving index cards to chart out the plot and all the characters. She has a scene in a gym class and she has named and outlined all 29 students in the class! Hope all is well with you and your family. (I loved the recent seaside photos!) Mayor and I did something very unusual for me which was to give up barely a quarter the way through. I thought it was AWFUL! The back cover said it was a forgotten classic or something, and I just thought there was good reason why it had been forgotten. The real problem was the quality of the writing - your Elizabeth or my Tom could have written better sentences and paragraphs - see what you think! Of the other books I think I have only read A View of the Harbour which was very enjoyable.Helenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09294597031718210747noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1092941621582901334.post-62229813623085745822014-05-04T22:25:04.983-06:002014-05-04T22:25:04.983-06:00So glad to hear that, Karen! I find it easier not to miss as much on long trips with lots of highway driving. I do so while driving but I fear that as I sometimes become so engrossed on them, if I listened while driving it might lead me to crash :)Brian Josephhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15139559400312336791noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1092941621582901334.post-7056294042816934082014-05-03T07:08:15.768-06:002014-05-03T07:08:15.768-06:00Thank you, Lucy!

It is about 50 hours of driving so between the drive in june and the return in September we might just manage the whole series. We've discovered some wonderful books this way including Eon Colfer's Half Moon Investigations (so good we listened to it twice!) and The Penderwicks series by Jeanne Birdsall (no CD player at the cottage so we continued going for long drives around the countryside after we arrived to finish it off!).

Lee-AnneLee-Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04270201592696284797noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1092941621582901334.post-72232858537814933862014-05-03T01:53:27.262-06:002014-05-03T01:53:27.262-06:0028 Viragos! I love that you're reading ahead of your trip (for me, this must be the best part of having travel plans!)
